High School Diploma Policy

In accordance with the U.S. Department of Education, National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts & Sciences (NACCAS), and Paul Mitchell The School, students at Paul Mitchell The School Birmingham must have a valid high school diploma, state-approved homeschool certificate, or high school graduation equivalency diploma to be admitted into the program and to be eligible to receive federal financial aid.

All high school diplomas will be evaluated by the Financial Aid Office. If a diploma appears to not meet state guidelines, every effort will be made to obtain additional information about accreditation and high school diploma requirements from the respective school. All decisions made by the Financial Aid Office are final. If a diploma is not considered valid, prospective students are strongly encouraged to obtain their high school graduation equivalency diploma. There are several local Alabama Career Services Centers that offer high school graduation equivalency diploma testing, as well as high school graduation equivalency diploma prep classes.

All questions should be referred to the Financial Aid Office.

Foreign Diplomas or Transcripts: The school will accept a foreign diploma or transcript; however, the diploma or transcript MUST be equivalent to a U.S. high school diploma and must be translated into English by a certified translator and evaluated by a credentialed evaluation service. It is the student's responsibility to have the foreign diploma or transcript translated and evaluated as part of the admissions process. Because the cost of evaluating a foreign diploma or transcript must be incurred as a charge of admissions prior to enrollment in an eligible program, the fee cannot be included in the cost of attendance (COA). Guidance on who to contact to secure an official translation and evaluation can be obtained from the school Financial Services Leader.

Paul Mitchell The School Birmingham does not recruit students who are already enrolled in a similar program at another institution.

If you have a disability and need an academic adjustment, please notify the Admissions Leader as soon as possible, so the school can review your request. If you are interested in attending our school and you do not have a high school diploma or high school graduation equivalency diploma, please contact our admissions office for a list of high school graduation equivalency diploma programs located near the school. Paul Mitchell The School Birmingham does not require a student to have immunizations/vaccinations to enroll in our school.

A copy of the school’s ADA Policy and Request for Accommodations form may be found on the school’s website or from the school’s Admissions Leader.

Transfer hours accepted by the school are applied to the total number of hours necessary to complete the program and are considered both attempted and completed hours for the purpose of determining when the allowable maximum time frame has been exhausted. Satisfactory academic progress (SAP) evaluation periods are based on actual contracted hours at the institution. Please refer to the school Transfer policy for additional information.
